What Is Our Inner Religion?
Man asks, “What is religion?” and finds no agreement, no clear answer, no firm ground. Scholars debate, definitions shift, and confusion remains. But the truth was never hidden, it has simply been forgotten.
The religion of God is not a label. It may not be reduced to an institution. It is simply - The Way.
In ancient times, there was no separation between belief and life. There was no word for “religion” in early Hebrew because there was no need for one. To live was to walk in alignment with the Creator. To exist was to follow His order.
But as nations rose and fell, as empires like Babylon and Rome sought to define and control, they gave a name to what they did not understand. They called it “religion.” What was once living truth became something observed, categorized, and divided. Yet the voice of God remains clear:
Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Psa 95:10 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest. Psa 95:11
This is the heart of it: not belief alone, but obedience. Not words, but walking. Not knowing about God, but knowing His ways.
The Way does not come from man. It is not invented, voted on, or revised. It comes from the Creator—יְהוּה, the One who formed all things, who stands outside time and yet moves through it, who sees the beginning and the end as one. He established The Way because He knows what endures.
Civilizations rise in pride and fall in corruption. Generations forget, distort, and destroy. But God does not guess. He knows what is required for life to continue, for order to remain, for a kingdom to stand forever. He spoke:
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Mat 5:18
These were not suggestions. They were not temporary measures. They were the foundation of a people meant to last.
The purpose is clear: to form a people who can be trusted with eternity. A people who will not collapse under power, who will not turn to corruption, who will not abandon truth.
A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. Psa 22:30 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this. Psa 22:31
We are not merely living, we are being prepared. Tested. Refined. Made ready for what comes after.
The Way is not forced upon anyone, but it is open to all. It belongs to those who belong to God, and to those who choose Him. It is not inherited by blood, nor claimed by words alone. It is entered through alignment, through learning His ways and walking in them.
“If they will diligently learn the ways of my people… then shall they be built in the midst of my people.” (Jeremiah 12:16)
This is the dividing line: not what you say, but what you follow.
Look at the world. What was once The Way has been broken into countless fragments. Religion has become a battleground, nation against nation, belief against belief, each claiming truth while pursuing power, wealth, and control. Men justify anything when they crown it as sacred. They fight, divide, and destroy, all while claiming righteousness. But this is not The Way. This is what happens when man takes what is holy and bends it to his own desires.
Still, this world serves its purpose. It reveals what is hidden. It separates those who seek truth from those who chase celebrity. It exposes who will follow God, and who will not.
For those who walk in The Way, this life is not the end. It is the proving ground. And what comes next will not resemble what is now. There will be no religions. No wars. No systems built on greed or fear. No division among people. There will be one people. One law. One King.
The Way will no longer be something to choose, it will be the reality we will all live within. And those who have learned it now will be at home.
